It describes itself as a ‘Phantom of the Opera retelling with a twist- combining nostalgia, murder, and decadent romance to create a unique horror experience and an even more unusual dating sim/eroge’. A demo is available on the Steam or Itch.io page.

Gaming News:

If you’ve been enjoying the battle royale action of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, I unfortunately have some bad news for you. Square-Enix announced that it will be ending the service of the mobile title on January 11th, 2023, meaning you have three more months to play it before it shuts down. The game has been available only for about a year, so it’s a shame that a game based on the popular Final Fantasy title is ending its service soon.

Sonic Frontiers is just under a month away and SEGA is pulling out all the stops to promote it! We received a brand new trailer going over the mechanics of the combat system and announced they will be releasing a Monster Hunter collaboration DLC pack that dresses Sonic up in Rathalos armor and adds a meat-grilling mini-game.

Anime News:

With how stacked the Fall 2022 anime season is, one thing remains on the minds of a lot of people: When is Demon Slayer season 3 starting? We’ll be getting our first look at the new season on December 10th in the form of a new trailer. Other than the fact that ufotable is returning to animate it and the original cast will be reprising their roles, there’s not else that has been announced at this time.

Though we did get a trailer for another hyped property this week that’s making its grand return to television! TRIGUN Stampede received a brand new trailer, showcasing the new 3D animated approach to the series, and finally revealing the design of the fan-favorite character, Nicholas D. Wolfwood. We also got a new key visual that perfectly captures the frantic tone the series is known for.

Who doesn’t love a good spy story? That’s exactly what we’re getting from the anime adaptation of the light novel series, Spy Classroom! It tells the story of a quirky, but expert spy named Kalus building up a team to take on a dangerous mission with an over 90% failure rate. The problem is that the candidates all have no practical experience, including a girl named Lily; the first of the character reveals that was announced through a key visual and a trailer.

Spy Classroom premieres in January 2023.

We’ve been losing a lot of famous actors this month, and we sadly lost another one. Jan Rabson passed away on October 14th at the age of 68. While he has played many roles in several Pixar films and was the voice of Larry Laffer in Leisure Suit Larry, arguably his most influential role was in the 1988 anime classic, Akira. He played the role of Tetsuo in the Streamline Pictures version of the film that was released a year after the Japanese release in 1989. We at NookGaming offer our condolences to the friends, family, and fans affected by the loss of Jan Rabson. May he rest in peace.

Upcoming Releases:

One of the most impactful game releases on the PlayStation 3 was undoubtedly Persona 5. As impressive as it was, it was only accessible to people who owned a PlayStation 3 or later a PlayStation 4, but the title is finally coming to multiple platforms this week! What’s more, it will be the expanded Royal version that introduces a new party member, dungeon, and a ton of other features that make this it the complete package.
