Visual Novel News:

MangaGamer have announced that they will be bringing us Distant Memoraĵo – the sequel to The Expression: Amrilato. Readers may remember The Expression: Amrilato as the visual novel that teaches you the Esperanto language, with a theme of the real meaning of communication. This title will be coming soon to MangaGamer and Steam.

Ambition: A Minuet in Power was due to release soon, but Iceberg Interactive has just announced that there will be a delay until August 2021. Originally being a KickStarter project with a release set for November 2018, this is much later than the original planned release but it looks like they are coming close.

For those unfamiliar, this is not a standard visual novel but one that includes mechanics around planning liaisons with people in order to gain access to their resources. Your goal is to survive the French Revolution.

Gaming News:

The Mario Golf series is making a comeback with Mario Golf: Super Rush! Of course, you can play a standard game of golf, but two new modes have been added to spice up the sport. First is Speed Golf, where every player plays at the same time and the goal is to put your ball in the hole before the other three players. Battle Golf is a more strategic version of Speed Golf, with the goal being to get 3 holes in a unique arena containing 9 holes. It will also contain a campaign mode with your Mii, teaching you how to play with unique challenges that level up your character.

After the successful launch of Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom isn’t letting the momentum slip by releasing new information about Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin! The most recent trailer highlights the game’s story and the characters you meet. On top of that, three new amiibo for the game will be released, as well as the option to get a bonus armor set if you have save data from the original Monster Hunter Stories.

Anime News:

To the shock of everyone, Kentaro Miura, the mangaka of the influential Berserk series passed away at the age of 54. Starting as an assistant for George Morikawa, who is the mangaka of the boxing series Hajime no Ippo, Kentaro Miura managed to get the first chapter of Berserk published in Monthly Animal House in October 1989. Releasing 363 chapters with 40 volumes published, the impact of Berserk cannot be understated! Many people have paid their respects to Miura’s passing, with even an online memorial being held within Final Fantasy XIV Online. Rest in peace, Kentaro Miura.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was recently released in western theatres and is performing unbelievably well! Pulling in a very impressive sum of $43,956,487, it has overtaken Pokemon: The Movie 2000 to become the second highest-grossing anime film in the US! If you happen to miss the theatrical release, you’ll be able to watch the film digitally on June 22nd.

On the topic of movies, the third and final instalment of Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel will be releasing both digitally and on BluRay. The film is set to release digitally on May 25th, with a BluRay release with both standard and limited editions arriving on August 17th.

Higurashi: When They Cry SOTSU is returning for the Summer anime season, and we’ve been given a new sneak peek at what’s to come for the residents of Hinamizawa. A new trailer was recently released and even gives us a preview of the new opening song by AYANE. We also got a brand new key visual for the series too.

If you told me that Vocaloid superstar Hatsune Miku would be collaborating with Hasbro’s My Little Pony franchise, I wouldn’t have believed you. Well, that’s exactly what’s happening thanks to the Bishoujo figure line! The collaboration was announced on Twitter with this piece of artwork that showcases how the statue will look. We have no idea when it will be releasing, so fans of both Miku and MLP should definitely keep their eye on it.

Japanese lyricist Akira Itou has passed away at the age of 80. He was most well known for his work on creating themes for anime, with his most famous work being the first opening of the classic anime series, Urusei Yatsura. We offer our condolences to the friends and family affected by his passing.

Upcoming Releases:

Announced back in 2017, it’s been quite a long road for Biomutant, but it will finally be releasing this week! This new action RPG from Experiment 101 has a lot to offer: character customization, a karma system, a heavy focus on combat and so much more!

Biomutant will release for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25th.

If you happened to miss the boat on the Danganronpa series’ conclusion back in 2017, the game is receiving a new port. Coming to iOS and Android this week, this new version of the game offers you a new touch-based control scheme and joins the prior main entries in the series currently on the platform.

Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony‘s iOS and Android ports arrive on May 26th.

Originally released on Google’s Stadia console, Super Bomberman R Online is making its way to other platforms this week! This game takes the classic Bomberman gameplay and turns it into a 64 player battle royale! It also includes a decent amount of customization to make your character truly stand out!

From the writer and director of Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, and AI: The Somnium Files, Too Kyo Game’s World’s End Club is arriving this week! Join a group of children who find themselves in an underwater theme park and forced to take part in a Game of Fate hosted by a mysterious clown.

World’s End Club arrives on Nintendo Switch on May 28th.
