Nook News – 3/21/22 – Toonami turns 25!

Visual Novel News:

JAST USA have announced the release of a complete remaster of classic eroge visual novel The Sagara Family on April 13th. This follows other remasters of classics, including X-Change (which we reviewed here) and Do You Like Horny Bunnies?

Due to circumstances, Yusuke is place in a situation where he is living with four lovely daughters and their sexy mother all living together under one roof. This title has digitally remastered art, HD music with a classic music option, an updated user interface and an improved translation.

Much like X-Change, if you own the original game, the you can get the remaster for free.

First announced back in 2015, the next entry in MAGES’ entry in their famous Science Adventure series, which includes titles like Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head, and Robotics;Note has yet to release. But at long last, their latest entry, Anonymous;Code will soon be ready for fans to get their hands on! Set to launch in Japan on July 28th for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, MAGES made the announcement in the form of a brand new trailer. An English localization has not yet been confirmed, but is likely with other titles in the series being available or announced for an English release.

PQube Games has announced the upcoming release of Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers. They describe it as a tale of love and pixels and esports competition. It will be released on all major platforms on May 27, 2022.

This is the follow up to the 2019 visual novel, Arcade Spirits. It takes place in an alternate future where arcades never went away. This instalment focused on an esports team.

Jack Jeanne has been announced for localization into English and Chinese (Traditional) on Nintendo Switch. It’s described as an otome coming of age drama, where the protagonist has to keep her gender hidden while attending an all-male school.

You won’t have to wait too much longer for an expansion for the most recent game to release: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak! The original title was already pretty beefy in regards to content, so expect this massive expansion to add on top of it!

While we are still waiting for the new titles from gaming’s blue blur, fans of Sonic the Hedgehog have been highly anticipating his return to the big screen! We just received the final trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel that showcases more of what we can expect from the film.

After the cliffhanger at the end of the fifth season, fans of Shonen Jump’s My Hero Academia are eagerly awaiting the continuation. We won’t have to wait too much longer, as in a recent piece of new key art, the sixth season of My Hero Academia is set to premiere sometime this Fall.

The third season in the popular romantic comedy, KAGUYA-SAMA: Love is War is set to be one of the heavy hitters for the Spring 2022 anime series! To announce the premiere date, a brand new key visual and trailer were released.

It’s hard to believe that Toonami is now 25 years old, but since 1997, the iconic Cartoon Network block that introduced western audiences to many now-iconic anime franchises is still discussed in the fandom even to this day! The block is celebrating its legacy in a big way, confirming three new projects! The first two are a return to the iconic Gainax series, FLCL with FLCL: Shoegaze and FLCL: Grunge; the latter of which got a short teaser showcasing a bold new visual style. The third project is a new series titled Housing Complex C which is set in a low-cost housing complex in the town of Kurosaki.

Netflix are bringing another famous gaming franchise to the world of animation with the announcement of a Tekken anime adaptation! Titled Tekken Bloodline, this project will focus on the past of the fan-favorite character, Jin Kazama, which was announced with a trailer revealing a 2022 release date.

Earlier this month, Toei Animation were the victim of an online hack that caused many of their popular series to suffer from delays. This also includes their upcoming feature film based on the Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Originally planned for a release in April in Japan and Summer in the US, because of the recent hack, the company has announced that the film now has no official release date at this time.

While we are still waiting for the modern anime adaptation of Tokyo Mew Mew, the franchise was dealt a heavy blow recently. The original manga’s illustrator, Mia Ikumi passed away recently at the age of 42 due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage on March 7th. Before her death, one of her most recent contributions included creating new covers for special edition releases of the Tokyo Mew Mew manga she illustrated to coincide with the new anime series. We at NookGaming offer our condolences to the friends and family affected by her passing. Rest in peace, Mia Ikumi.

While it’s been out in Japan since last year, Hakuma’s next entry in the Rune Factory series is ready for its western release! This new title brings back the tried-and-tested mix of RPG gameplay and life-sim mechanics and melds them together.

Rune Factory 5 launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on March 22nd.

Five years after their last game, The Evil Within 2, Tango Gameworks’ latest title finally releases this week! Ghostwire: Tokyo sees you in a first-person perspective investigating the sudden disappearance of a majority of the Tokyo population and gives you the chance to use psychic powers to take on the many spiritual foes you’ll undoubtedly face.

Ghostwire: Tokyo releases for PlayStation 5 and PC on March 25th.

Just in time for his 30th anniversary next month, the latest instalment from Nintendo’s Kirby series launches this week! This release is notable for being the first full 3D platformer in the franchise and while it includes Kirby’s iconic copying ability, it also introduces the new Mouthful Mode, allowing Kirby to swallow objects whole to gain new abilities.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land releases exclusively for Nintendo Switch on March 25th.
