Visual Novel News:
TYPE-MOON is a household name for lovers of visual novels, helping to popularize the genre in the west with their hugely successful Fate series. Well, TYPE-MOON is back to adapt one of their older titles for the modern gaming landscape with Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-. The original game was released way back in 2000, with this new version aiming to reimagine the original story with more focus being put on the Arcueid and Ciel’s routes.
While announced back in December, the game now has a release window of Summer 2021 in Japan. The announcement came with a new piece of key art from long-time TYPE-MOON artist Takashi Takeuchi.
Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- launches this Summer in Japan for Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. There is no news on an English adaption as of yet.

Glasses lovers can rejoice. The Megasuki series have been added with another surprise release; Megasuki: Love Through Lenses with Otoha Inami following your relationship with a junior who joins the art club. While she does have an eye for art, she’s there for you.
We haven’t played these visual novels yet, but they certainly show off some nice artwork. Be warned though – it’s not safe for work.

Moving into another area of visual novels, ypressgames has released their latest yaoi title. Sentimental Tricker follows Haru Amari – a man who was looking for a new beginning far from his past. Instead, he falls into complicated relationships. One particularly interesting feature it notes is that all choices matter and have lasting effects.

On the topic of TYPE-MOON, Melty Blood, the niche 2D fighting franchise based on Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon is getting a brand new game in the form of Melty Blood: Type Lumina. Development is being led by French-Bread, a reputable fighting game studio behind the popular Under Night In-Birth series. It’s been almost a decade since the developer last released a title in the Melty Blood series, so fighting game fans would be wise to keep a close eye on this title!

The iconic Resident Evil series recently celebrated its 25th anniversary this past week! The date came with an announcement of another Resident Evil Showcase airing this April and promises to reveal more details on Resident Evil Village and other 25th anniversary announcements. On top of that, the Resident Evil reboot film has been officially titled: Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City. The new film is set to premiere this September.
Fans of Pokemon Go will be happy to hear this: the game’s developer Niantic is working on a new game using another Nintendo franchise — Pikmin! Pre-registration is now up for the game, but details are scarce as of now.
The new Pikmin AR game will release sometime this year.
Anime News:
My Hero Academia‘s fifth season has finally begun and kicked off the Spring 2021 anime season! At the end of the first episode, a trailer for the third film in the franchise was unveiled. The film is titled My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission and the staff of the original series, Studio BONES are behind the production. The original manga’s author Kohei Horikoshi is also playing a part in the film’s production by serving as both a supervisor and character designer.
My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission premieres in Japan on August 6th.

Keeping with this theme of shonen film announcements, Jujutsu Kaisen recently aired its season finale and with it, a film based on the prequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was announced via a teaser trailer. Just like the original series, Studio MAPPA will be the ones producing the film.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is set to premiere in Japan this Winter.

The fan-favorite manga Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro is finally getting anime adaptation during the Spring 2021 anime season!. Not only was a trailer released, but a new key visual was also released.

Based on the popular mobile title of the same name, Girls’ Frontline is getting an anime series! Produced by Warner Bros. Japan and animated by Asahi Productions, the series is set to release later this year and will be watchable via global streaming.

Upcoming Releases:
While it was released on Playstation 4 earlier this month, the latest entry in the Neptunia franchise, Neptunia Virtual Stars arrives on PC via the Steam Store. The PC audience for the franchise seems decently large, so fans of Gamindustri’s goddesses won’t want to pass up on this!

Speaking of PC releases, the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts PC ports are finally releasing next week! This will be the first time the franchise has ever been released on the platform, meaning a whole new audience can experience this phenomenal crossover of both Disney and Square-Enix.
The PC release of the entire Kingdom Hearts series launches exclusively on the Epic Games Store on March 30th.
