Nook News – 4/4/22 – Delays, Cancelations, and New Premieres

Visual Novel News:

Novectacle’s Seventh Lair, is now available on Steam and MangaGamer. This visual novel is described as a tongue-in-cheek, but emotional look at the online interactions between an indie game developer and fans. It will be on MangaGamer’s own store and Steam.

This is by the creators of The House in Fata Morgana, notable for being one of the highest ranked games (not just visual novels) and temporarily the highest rated game on MetaCritic.

Suhoshin has announced a release date of April 14th 2022. Set in Korea’s Joseon period, Suhoshin begins with a young man named Yuri returning to his quiet hometown in the countryside. The art is notably by Kageyoshi, known for working on Raging Loop.

DOUKYUUSEI: Bangin’ Summer has passed all necessary reviews and has been announced as releasing on April 15, at 10 AM JST. It will release on both Steam and Johren.

A 30% pre-order discount is available on Johren. The launch discount will be 20%.

Love Lab have just announced Maid for Loving You in English and Chinese. No further news has been released, but this appears to be Maid-san no Iru Kurashi.

Amnesia: Memories and Amnesia: Later x Crowd have been announced as coming to the Nintendo Switch in Fall 2022. Amnesia: Memories can currently be found on Steam for PC, while Amnesia Later x Crowd V Edition has not been released in English previously.

Sony has announced their new PlayStation Plus subscription options to compete with Microsoft’s GamePass service. They plan to offer three tiers of service: one which has the same benefits of PlayStation Plus, while the other two allow you to play a catalogue of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 titles. The most expensive option offers titles for PlayStation 3 (via cloud streaming), PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and the PlayStation Portable. The service is set to start in June.

Fans of Nintendo’s iconic Legend of Zelda will have to wait a bit longer for Link’s next big adventure. In a statement from series producer, Eiji Aonuma, it was announced in the form of a YouTube video that the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been delayed to Spring 2023. This is due to the development team wanting to spend more time on the project to improve on it in order to make something special.

On the topic of delays, we’ve got another big one, but it goes a step further than that. The Electronic Entertainment Expo for 2022, or E3 for short, has been cancelled. The Entertainment Software Association stated that not only will there be no in-person event this year, but there also won’t be any virtual event associated with E3. Even so, it’ll be up to various publishers and developers if we see any announcements that could have been seen at the event, so we at NookGaming will keep you all in the loop!

On a more positive note, one of the most successful shonen series, One Piece, got a ton of new announcements recently! While it included information regarding a new film, the live-action adaptation and other announcements, the event also came with the unveiling of a brand new One Piece gameOne Piece Odyssey was revealed as an RPG developed by ILCA, the studio that recently worked on the remakes of Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. Characters and monsters are being designed by series creator, Eiichiro Oda, along with Motoi Sakuraba, best known for their work on Dark Souls and the Tales Of series, in charge of composing the game’s music.

One Piece Odyssey launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2022.

Anime News:

It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years since the last anime series in the iconic Mobile Suit Gundam series, but we finally have our first proper look at what the franchise’s future looks like! Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury stars a female character and the titular mech for the series is the Gundam Aerial. Alongside the first key visual and a good look at the Gundam Aerial’s design, it was announced that there will also be a PROLOGUE project this summer before the series’ premiere.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury premieres this October.

While it seemed like the series was about to end, this giant franchise has one more step to take before reaching the end. Attack on Titan’s final season is getting a third part, which was announced at the end of the second part, with us also getting a new key visual to coincide with the announcement.

Five years after its first season, we finally have a more concise release window for Made in Abyss‘ second season! Alongside a brand new key visual, the second season of Made in Abyss will premiere this July!

Upcoming Releases:

While many JRPG fans sing the praises for the all-time classic Chrono Trigger, its follow up doesn’t get nearly as much love. Well, it will now have a second chance to find an audience! Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a remaster of the original PlayStation title with some brand new enhancements to the classic game.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition releases on April 7th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
