Visual Novel News:

The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass has released onto Steam and Itch.io after a successful Kickstarter last year. While only on PC for now, a stretch goal was reached for console ports with mention of Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. This OELVN promises 40+ hours of compelling mystery and early user reviews have been positive overall.

Half a year after the lustfiend invasion initiated by the traitor Archbishop Rudolf— The Elleraldian throne is Cecily’s, and to her too fall two heavy burdens: she must rebuild the nation into prosperity while fending off the ever-growing lustfiend threat.

In the coming week, Eden’s Ritter 1:2 – Priestess of Pleasure is due to release on May 14th. This dark fantasy visual novel by Waffle is being localized by Shiravune.

For those of you who want more of the series, the first installment in this series can be found on Steam. Priestess of Pleasure takes place six months after the events of Eden’s Ritter: Paladins of Ecstasy.

Gaming News:

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, an upgraded version of the original 2020 release is right around the corner. The final trailer for the game was recently released to help build anticipation for the Playstation 5 upgrade. Tetsuya Nomura also provided an update on the development of the follow up to Final Fantasy VII Remake, and he had the following to say:

“Development is moving forward quite well. I’d like to perhaps make a proper announcement when the timing is right, but Cloud is running through mother nature. You’ll be able to enjoy a somewhat different atmosphere from the first game… Well, things are progressing nicely, so please wait for it. The next game starts directly after Intergrade, so I hope you will also get to play Intergrade.”

The spin-off to SEGA’s successful Yakuza series, Judgement is getting a follow-up! Titled Lost Judgement, Takayuki Yagami returns to solve a new case that appears to have an airtight alibi, with the original’s combat system also returning. Interested in the original? Check out our review here.

The sequel to The Caligula Effect is launching in Japan this June, so it’s just around the corner. To promote the title, FuRyu and Historia have released a massive nine minute trailer that serves as a preview for the upcoming title.

The anime adaptation of Akihito Tsukushi’s Made in Abyss manga premiered quite a while back, but that isn’t stopping Spike Chunsoft from releasing a game set in the same universe called Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness! This 3D action RPG retells the story from the original series, but it also has a brand new story supervised by the manga’s original author. A teaser website for the game is now live, showcasing a few screenshots of the game.

Despite the manga releases and the recent video games, you’re likely starved for the continuation of Dragon Ball Super‘s anime series. After all, it’s been over two years since Dragon Ball Super: Broly stunned cinema-goers back in December 2018, but at long last, more animated content is on the way. To celebrate Goku Day on May 9th, Toei Animation announced that a new Dragon Ball Super movie is in production!

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is writing the story for the new film, with it reportedly being in the works before Dragon Ball Super: Broly‘s premiere in 2018. Not much is known about the film as of now, but Toriyama stated to “…be prepared for some extreme and entertaining bouts, which may feature an unexpected character.”

The new Dragon Ball Super film is planned to premiere in 2022.

Along with the aforementioned video game announcement, it has been confirmed that the long-awaited second season of Made in Abyss is now on the horizon! Titled Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyo, it received its first key visual and is set to premiere in 2022.

Announced in a recent live stream, details regarding the next chapter in the popular Overlord series were announced. Not only will the series be getting a fourth anime season, but an anime film was also announced! For the series, the same team from the third season is returning at Studio Madhouse. As for the film, it has been said that it will be based on the Holy Kingdom arc.

No premiere dates for Overlord‘s fourth season and the film have been announced at this time.

Long-time anime fans will surely perk an ear when the series Welcome to the NHK! is brought up. The popular anime adaptation of the novel and manga series was adapted back in 2006 and received critical acclaim. It helped bring to light the very real issue of the hikikomori lifestyle in Japan with wacky scenarios and likable characters. While the series ended well over a decade ago, Tatsuhiko Takimoto, the original author is penning a short story sequel to the series and is set to release on May 16th!

The manga series Battle Game in 5 Seconds is getting an anime adaptation! Produced by SynergySP and Vega Entertainment, this adaptation recently received a key visual, along with its first trailer.

Battle Game in 5 Seconds will premiere in Japan on July 12th.

The classic Famicom Detective Club series is finally making its way to the west! Releasing as a combo pack with both Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, famed visual novel studio Mages have fully remade both titles exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

While the series may have stumbled with Mass Effect Andromeda, the original titles that started the franchise are being given a new coat of pain with Mass Effect Legendary Edition! The original Mass Effect trilogy is receiving a remaster in this package, with the original Mass Effect receiving the most touch-ups.
