Visual Novel News:

The Tsukihime Remake launched in Japan. While no English localization has been announced, sales figures have been over 130,000 which is notably high for a visual novel. This gives some hope for a future localization.

On the indie visual novel side, Infinite Stars has released Episode 3. Infinite Stars is a sci-fi story inspired by Dune, Star Trek and other popular series. The price is set as whatever the user wishes to pay.

Gaming News:

Sony is set to release another PlayStation Showcase this week! This 40-minute presentation aims to show games set to release for this holiday and beyond. However, Sony has confirmed that there won’t be any news regarding the next version of PlayStation VR.

The PlayStation Showcase will be live on September 9th at 1:00 PM PDT/9:00 PM BST.

Clouded Leopard Entertainment’s dungeon crawler Demon Gaze is getting an enhanced version and is set to be released worldwideDemon Gaze EXTRA is an updated version of the 2014 original and we received a trailer to announce the release.

Joining the likes of Sonic, Kiryu, and Morgana, two new DLC characters for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will be coming to the game on October 5th. The first is one of the most recognizable mascots in history, Hello Kitty! The second is quite a surprising one: Suezo from the Monster Rancher series!

Anime News:

Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san is returning for a third season, along with a film too! Hiroaki Akagi is returning to direct, with production duties once again being handled by Shin-Ei Animation. The announcement came with a new trailer and key visual.

Season three of Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san premieres in January 2022.

Anime’s most famous thief is making his grand return this year! Lupin the Third Part 6 received a new key visual and a premiere date of October 9th, 2021. It was also announced that the series will be available to watch on Hulu for those outside of Japan.

Fans of anime in the mid-2000s have likely heard of the animation studio, GONZO. The studio is teaming up with Funimation to release remastered versions of three of their series: Burst AngelRagnarok the Animation, and Witchblade. These series will be released on YouTube for a limited time with them being released in three-episodes chunks weekly.

Upcoming Releases:

One of Sonic the Hedgehog‘s most critically acclaimed titles is getting an updated port this week! Sonic Colors Ultimate is a re-release of the original with updated visuals, customization features, and a bunch of new additions to gameplay like a new power-up.

Sonic Colours Ultimate releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 7th.

It has been five years since the last main entry in the Tales series, but we’ll finally be getting the latest installment in this massive JRPG series this week! Tales of Arise is aiming to revitalize the series with a system called the Linear Motion Battle System and the new Boost Strike feature.

Tales of Arise arrives for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on September 10th.

Nintendo’s wacky Warioware series is making a comeback with Warioware: Get It Together! The big focus on this title is multiplayer support, with the series’ charming and crazy microgames also being present and accounted for.

Warioware: Get It Together launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch on September 10th.
