Some of Atelier Yumia’s systems are not exactly explained well. Camping and cooking certainly fall within those areas, with certain parts of cooking locked away behind a set of quests. This guide aims to explain every part of camping and cooking in Atelier Yumia.
Unlocking the Camping Set
To unlock the camping set, you need to reach 10 percent Pioneering Progress in the Ligneus Region. You can see a list of tasks to complete to work toward this by going to the menu and choosing the Pioneering Progress option.
When you have completed enough of these tasks to reach 10 percent, go speak to Erhard in the survey camp in the Ligneus Region to get your reward. Please note that Pioneering Progress rewards will only be given for the region that you are currently speaking to Erhard in, so if you are working on Pioneering Progress for other regions, you’ll need to visit him there to report that progress.
The Basics: Setting Up Camp
You’ll need to create two sets of items. A Camping Set and some cooking ingredients. You can make these via the Simple Synthesis menu.
Create these and ensure they’re in your Exploration Bag. You can double-check via the menu wheel if needed.
To start camping, use the menu wheel and highlight the Camping Set. It may be grayed out if this is not an appropriate place.
Where to Camp?
You do not have to go to specific camping sites.
You can generally camp anywhere that there is a wide enough flat and open space, in theory. Even having monsters nearby does not necessarily stop this as you’ll see in the screenshot above. I’ve camped in tunnels, in a wide corridor of a cathedral, mountain paths, and even in the final enemy’s base. The space does need to be reasonably big however.
As with more than a few things in Atelier Yumia, it can be a little finicking about how and when it works. If it looks like it should work, try to move about slightly and then open up the menu again or find a bigger space. Through testing and community reports though, there seem to be plenty of instances where it seemingly should work but doesn’t.
Why to Camp?
You can do three things when camping. Speak to your party members for a small amount of dialogue, rest, and cook food.
Cooking
Cooking food is the most important of these. It gives you a variety of buffs depending on what you cook. These last a short time which vary based on the type of food.
How to Unlock all Ingredients and Recipes
When you first get access to camping in Atelier Yumia, you’ll only have access to one type of ingredient set, the ‘Decent Cooking Ingredients’.
To unlock all of the recipes, you’ll need to complete three quests: Gourmet Travel Log, Gourmet Travel Log 2, and Gourmet Travel Log 3. These appear in the Ligneus, Sivash, and Auruma Region. You can see the below screenshots for where these appear on the maps.
If the NPC does not appear at these locations but the icon is there, then I would suggest saving and reloading.
Gourmet Travel Log
Requirement: Deliver 3x Moonlit Berries
You can find these in various places in the Ligneus Region, including around the Great Tree of Latere.
Gourmet Travel Log 2
Requirement: Deliver 3x Red Devil
You can find these in various places in the Sivash Region, including around the Nebel Floodway.
Gourmet Travel Log 3
Requirement: Deliver 1x Electromelon
You can find these in various places in the Auruma Region, including around the Ramus Radix Station.
List of Food and Effects
After you finish the three Gourmet Travel Log quests, you will have access to all of the following recipes as long as you have the ingredients in your Exploration Bag.
The effect durations listed below are the base time. This can be increased by unlocking skills in the Exploration branch of the skill tree. You can also unlock the ability to eat multiple meals and therefore trigger multiple effects at once through this skill tree branch.
