Kunado Chronicles works on a ladder system with very few choices. It works in a slightly different way from many other visual novels though, which may cause some confusion.
This guide will tell you which choices to make to access the three routes, the recommended order, how to avoid any confusion, and explain the situation regarding the adult patch and how to use it.
There are no Steam achievements for Kunado Chronicles in the Steam version.

18+ Content
If you have purchased the Steam version of Kunado Chronicles, it is highly recommended to install the 18+ content patch. Without this, Akane and Aoi’s route will not be accessible.
You can find the free patch here on the Johren website. You need to put the downloaded patch file in the same install folder as kunado.exe. If you are unsure of where this is, right-click the listing in your Steam Library, then select Manage > Browse local files to find the filepath.
The window title will not change to include R18 as many visual novels do after installing a patch, but instead, the 18+ version will include an option for ‘After Story’ on the title screen. This appears even before starting a save file, unlike some other visual novels.
Route Order
No route order is enforced, but I recommend Yuri > Akane and Aoi > Haruhime.
Yuri’s epilogue hints at a reveal from Haruhime’s route and Haruhime’s feels very much like the conclusion or true route.
The Unusual Ladder System
Kunado Chronicles may confuse some players as everyone will go from the common route to Yuri’s route. During Yuri’s route, you will be presented with two options. If you choose the option to leave Yuri’s route, you will go to the twins’ route. You will then be presented with two further options. Depending on the option you choose, you will then continue the twins’ route or enter Haruhime’s route.
Yuri Route
Choose:
- I love you with all my heart, Yuri
Akane and Aoi (Also known as Futaba Route)
Choose:
- I’ll show you more of the future
- I love both of you
Haruhime Route
Choose:
- I’ll show you more of the future
- I’ll take you two by the hand into the future.
After Stories and Other Characters
Completing the routes unlocks after stories as follows:
Akane and Aoi Route:
- After Story – Akane and Aoi
Haruhime Route:
- After Story – Haruhime 1
- After Story – Haruhime 2
Complete All Three Routes:
- Parallel Story – Tsubame
- Parallel Story – Shiki (This is a short story featuring the ‘Prof’)
Yuri does not have any after story scenes, but instead has more of a sex focus within her route than the others.
