Nook News – 2/5/24 | PlayStation Updates & Fate/Stay night’s Western Release

Visual Novel News:

The Fate series recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and what better way to do so than with a big announcement! TYPE-MOON have announced a remaster of Fate/stay night for Nintendo Switch and PC based on the PlayStation Vita “Fate/stay night Réalta Nua” version from 2012. On top of this, this remaster will also be released in the West, making it the first time the original game in the franchise has officially been released in English!

Shiravune has announced NUKITASHI 2’s release date. It will be coming to Steam and Johren on the 16th February, 2024. You can find the opening video here and our review of the first title in this series here.

Aksys have announced several upcoming visual novel releases, primarily for Nintendo Switch.

Despera Drops (NSW/2025) – In the summer of 2028, Mika Amamine, studying abroad at a university in Bologna, Italy, visits Rome for a short trip with friends to celebrate the end of exams. However, during that trip, she encounters a murder incident and is subsequently arrested as a suspect. While being transported in a police vehicle, it suddenly overturns in an accident, freeing Mika along with six other criminals and they all become fugitives. Mysterious attackers appear, targeting the unique “power” that Mika possesses, and the group finds themselves pursued by both the police and the attackers. The secret hidden within Mika’s power, the identity of the attackers, and the truth behind the murder incident that started it all… Can they unravel these mysteries and reclaim a normal life?

Radiant Tale -Fanfare- (NSW/Summer 2024) – The fandisk for “Radiant Tale” includes all-new stories, including sugary sweet after-stories that follow the happy endings with the five love interests in the original game, as well as new routes with two side characters following the normal ending of the common route. Additionally, the fandisk contains a collection of mini-episodes of events that occurred throughout the original main story, allowing fans to further enjoy its contents.
Tales from Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch (NSW, PS5/Summer 2024) – Hikaru Nishime travels to live with his grandfather on a remote island, but discovers to his dismay that his grandfather has gone abroad. While looking for a place to sleep, Hikaru meets Lilun, a witch who is visiting the island for certain reasons, and as the two decide to forge a path together, their magical story unfolds.
Virche Evermore -EpiC: Lycoris- (NSW/Fall 2024) – Return to the island of Arpéchéle where, surrounded by the sea and black flowers of misfortune called Lycoris Noirge, humans are cursed to die by age 23. Five new tales further explore the world of Virche Evermore. Experience the new despair and salvation that awaits Ceres and her suitors.

PlayStation hosted their first State of Play event for the year and they had quite a bit to show. Here are the highlights:

Stellar Blade got a decent amount of focus in a new overview trailer. While the action is what this game is most known for, there are more aspects of the game that this trailer focuses on. This new overview trailer revealed the general story premise and a semi-open world across areas such as a desert and a dilapidated city where you can help its residents in various side quests.

Stellar Blade launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on April 26th.

SEGA is re-releasing one of Sonic the Hedgehog‘s most beloved games for modern platforms but with a little extra! Sonic X Shadow Generations brings back the original game from 2011 and enhances it for modern consoles, but now has the inclusion of Shadow the Hedgehog as a playable character. He’ll be playable in a brand-new story campaign with new stages to play through and even teases that new bosses will be included too.

Sonic X Shadow Generations releases for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Fall.

After almost a year and a half of silence, Konami provided us with an update on the remake of Silent Hill 2! This new trailer focuses on the combat players will be forced into, as well as revealing some of the monsters that call Silent Hill home.

The Silent Hill 2 remake will be released for PlayStation 5 and PC. No release window was announced at this time.

Koei Tecmo gave us more information on their latest game, Rise of the Ronin! This gameplay showcase trailer had a large emphasis on the gameplay, with several weapons, traversal options, and locations being highlighted. You’re also able to have an impact on the game’s world by helping specific characters and building bonds with them.

Rise of the Ronin launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on March 22nd.

To close out the PlayStation State of Play event, we got a pretty lengthy look at the next game from Hideo Kojima! Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a continuation of the original game from 2019 and while this trailer doesn’t focus on the gameplay, it reveals a plethora of characters that will be featured in the game’s story. On top of this trailer, it was also announced that a new action espionage game called Physint will begin production after Death Stranding 2: On the Beach releases.

While it was announced last year, we now have our first proper look at the fourth movie in the My Hero Academia franchise! Titled My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next, it received its first trailer and seems to put a lot of focus on the character All Might.
