Long Live the Queen has launched on a variety of consoles. It’s a stat-based raising sim/visual novel and a personal favorite of one of our writers, so check it out.
As previously noted, the developer is working on a sequel set in space.
The Kickstarter for Private Dick: Lipstick & Lies is coming to an end soon. At the time of writing, it doesn’t appear likely to succeed. The developer has announced their intention to raise money through contracting and continue development part-time.

Indie Visual Novel Mycorrhiza has been announced with a release date of August 12th 2022. It’s created by Fulminisictus, who has done audio work on titles such as LoveSick Darlings.
Mycorrhiza is inspired by horror manga such as those by Junji Ito and Masaaki Nakayama and features art drawn by a horror manga artist and what has been described as immersive audio trickery.

Gaming News:
The cult classic title from Suda 51 and James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy fame is getting a remake! Tentatively titled Lollipop Chainsaw Remake, Yoshimi Yasuda, the CEO of Dragami Games, bought the rights to the franchise from Kadokawa and aims to give the game the modern spit-and-shine treatment. One important aspect of the original game was the licensed music, which Yasuda has addressed and the remake will include different songs due to licensing difficulties. While platforms haven’t been revealed as of now, the remake is set for a release in 2023.
Despite being initially released six years ago, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is still receiving support and DLC to this day! We’re getting yet another one, but the characters chosen were chosen by the fans! The Conton City Vote Pack will include three new characters: Dyspo, Ultra Instinct -Sign- Goku, and GT Vegeta. On top of that, players will gain access to more missions, costumes, and much more.

Anime News:
Anime, manga, and trading card fans were dealt a heavy blow this week due to the loss of a famous creator. Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! manga series from Shonen Jump, passed away this week due to a scuba diving-related incident. Originally created in 1996, the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga began as a tribute to many types of games until it introduced the Duel Monsters card game. The series soon focused its story to revolve around it and Konami created a hugely successful trading card game based on it, which is still adored by millions even to this day. We here at NookGaming offer our condolences to the friends, family, and fans of Kazuki Takahashi who were affected by his passing. Rest in peace, Kazuki Takahashi.
Anime Expo took place last week and one of the big announcements to come from it was more information on the continuation of a popular series! Created by a mangaka named ONE, who also created the shonen parody series One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100 is returning for a third season this October. The new season got a brand new piece of key art, along with confirming that the MOB CHOIR will return to perform the season’s opening theme.
At the end of the premiere of Dr. STONE Special Episode – RYUSUI, it came with the announcement of the next season for the popular shonen series! Revealed in a short 10-second teaser, the third season of the series, titled Dr. Stone: New World was revealed and will be premiering in Spring 2023.

We’ve received our first look at the Slam Dunk movie from Toei Animation. Titled The First Slam Dunk, the film will be using a 3DCGI style similar to the company’s previous attempt, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. It isn’t a long trailer, but we’ll get to see the whole thing when it releases in Japan on December 3rd.

Tiger & Bunny 2 premiered on Netflix back in April, but just like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, we didn’t get the full series all at once. We won’t have to wait too long though, as a recent trailer from Netflix announced that the second part of Tiger & Bunny 2 will be available to stream on October 7th.

Upcoming Releases:
PC players bummed out that they couldn’t try out Marvelous’ latest entry in the Rune Factory series will get their chance this week! Rune Factory 5 is a simulation game that lets you farm, tame monsters, and form bonds with the various members of your town. What’s more, you’ll also be tasked with slaying monsters too, so there’s a bit of action to partake in as well.
Rune Factory 5 launches for PC on July 13th.
This 2D action platformer has been making its way to other platforms over the years; let’s add Xbox to the list! Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is the second entry in the franchise and developed by IntiCreates. The game is comparable to the Mega Man Zero series and let’s you control not only the titular Gunvolt, but his rival Copen as well.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 arrives for Xbox Series X and Xbox One on July 14th.
