The ZyberVR Quick-Charge Neck Power Bank With Swappable Battery is essentially a 10000mAh power bank with USB-C connectors. It’s designed for use with VR headsets, but you can use it to charge your audio headset, phone, tablet, or other devices.
Aside from its high battery capacity, it stands out for its ergonomic design and convenience when using a VR headset. It sits around the neck and connects, via an included short cable, to the VR headset to keep it charged for another 2+ hours while playing.
The short 35cm cable had enough slack that it never pulled when moving, but it was short enough to not get in the way while playing. This is an improvement over a long cable trailing to a pocket with a power bank in that I’ve used in the past.
A longer 80cm cable was also included, which I found worked well to charge up my phone while still using it.
One minor improvement I would’ve liked here would be to use the more durable braided cables. Considering the cost, it’s a pity that it uses regular ones.
Stable Weight
One concern I had was that the ZyberVR Quick-Charge Neck Power Bank would be too heavy. It certainly is a noticeable weight, and I’d prefer it to be slightly lighter, but I didn’t feel any neck pain when using it. After a while, I got used to it. It’s balanced well which helps too.
The part that sits around the back of the neck is flexible, so there is some slight movement. That said, the weight itself keeps the power bank stable around the shoulders. This helped to stop it from spinning around in more active VR games where I moved around a lot, though big movements like quickly moving from a crouch to stand did make it jump up slightly.
Power Up
The ZyberVR Quick-Charge Neck Power Bank charges up via a USB-C cable. One unusual choice was the included cable for this is USB-C to USB-C. I believe most people would use a USB-A for their source of power, so buyers may need an additional USB-A to USB-C cable to charge it up.
More positively, finding out the charge level is convenient. There’s an included button that turns on up to four indicator lights, depending on the level of charge.
The battery is swappable too. ZyberVR offers an option to buy an extra battery. It’s easy to use the switch to pop one battery out and another in. You can charge the battery outside of the Neck Power Bank too, which allows you to charge one battery while using the other.
Verdict
The ZyberVR Quick-Charge Neck Power Bank With Swappable Battery is great both at extending your Virtual Reality session or just keeping your phone going longer. There could be a few minor improvements, but it’s certainly a useful piece of equipment for the VR enthusiast.
