Karigurashi Ren’ai: Living on Borrowed Love – Walkthrough & Guide

Karigurashi Ren’ai: Living on Borrowed Love by ASa Project includes a common route, which leads to a total of four normal heroine routes, two sub-heroine routes, and a normal end. This guide will inform you of the choices to access the various routes in this visual novel and explain the situation regarding the R18 patch.

Adult Content

If you have purchased the Steam version of Karigurashi Ren’ai: Living on Borrowed Love, you can download the 18+ DLC via the Kagami Games Patch Website.

To install the adult patch, download the patch files and extract them. Then run Setup-开始安装-開始安裝.exe and follow the process on screen.

You can confirm whether it is installed properly by going to the title screen. Characters will only appear on the title screen if the patch is correctly installed. Most of the game is not available without the patch.

At the time of writing, only an ‘all ages’ Steam version of Karigurashi Ren’ai: Living on Borrowed Love is available, but we have been informed that a JAST version will be released later.

Choices in H-scenes unlock all variants in the CG Gallery regardless.

Steam Achievements

If you are playing the Steam version, you can unlock all Steam Achievements by following the walkthroughs below to complete all routes and endings. This includes completing the normal end.

Route Order and Structure

Karigurashi Ren’ai: Living on Borrowed Love works using a modified ladder system, with additional requirements to unlock heroine choices and a split route. Following the common route guide below will complete all requirements by choosing the ideal choice for all heroines within a scene, but you may wish to choose other choices to see varying dialogue. However, if you do not get enough points for a heroine, the choice to move onto their route will not appear.

In the walkthroughs for heroine routes below, steps are given for either starting from the save made at the end of the shared part of the common route or at saves further down the line.

The route order is not locked, and no specific order is recommended, but there is a natural order based on which step you leave the common route.

Common Route

Maru Yohakari Route (Sub-Heroine)

Kyou Aranami Route
