Visual Novel News:

Shiravune recently surprise launched Chihiro Himukai Always Walks Away on Johren. It will be coming to Steam on July 28th 2021.

This short visual novel is by lead writer Hayase Yuu, who also worked on Making*Lovers and Sugar*Style. Focusing on two classmates meeting each other again in their adult life, it sparks an interesting relationship of sorts.

In Kickstarter news, Sharin No Kuni has been delayed again. It has missed several release deadlines and one was very recently announced and then missed. They currently do not have a release date, but hope to resolve their current problem by the end of July 2021. A further update has been promised to come soon.

Gaming News:

The promotion for the Danganronpa series coming to the Switch is now in full swing! Not only did we get a brand new trailer, but we also received a brand new key image promoting the new game mode being added to the collection: Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp. Taking cues from the mini-game included in Danganronpa V3, play a board game with RPG battles not-so-subtly inspired by Dragon Quest featuring a who’s who from the entire series.

Danganronpa Decadence arrives exclusively on Nintendo Switch on December 3rd.

Among all the hype from the recent 2.0 update, MiHoYo decided to announce something quite surprising! Genshin Impact is finally receiving its first guest character and it’s one you may not expect: Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn! She will be the first 5-star character that all players will receive for free, which can be done for PlayStation players in the 2.1 update, with every other system receiving her in the 2.2 update.

SEGA are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to showcasing the massive amount of features in the sequel to the Yakuza spin-off, Judgement! In a brand new 5-minute trailer, it showcases all the skills, tools, and techniques Yagami will need to solve a perplexing new case. Not only that, but you’ll also be able to compete in a robotics club, skateboard, play classic SEGA arcade games, and so much more that’ll keep you busy for hours!

Lost Judgement launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One on September 24th.

Anime News:

Comic-Con@Home 2021 recently kicked off and in a big way! The previously teased latest entry in the Dragon Ball franchise was officially announced as a brand new movie: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero! At the panel, a whole bunch of new information was shown, including character designs, locations, and even a short teaser showing the series’ protagonist, Son Goku, in a 3D animation style.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will premiere sometime in 2022.

We’ve got some more information regarding the highly anticipated 20th-anniversary anime series of Tokyo Mew Mew! We’ve been given our first look at a few of the new designs for some of the main characters and their voice actresses in the form of a short teaser and key visual.

Tokyo Mew Mew New will premiere sometime in 2022.

In more movie news, fans of the influential Neon Genesis Evangelion series will finally be able to watch the conclusion of the rebuild film series! The 4th and final film will debut for worldwide audiences on Amazon Prime Video on August 13th.

The movie news keeps on coming as Studio Bones recently released an all-new trailer for the third film in the My Hero Academia series: My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission! More of the film’s story was shown, with the same cast and studio from the anime adaptation returning to work on the film.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission premieres in Japan on August 6th. No western release has been announced at this time.

Okay, this is the last piece of movie news this week, I promise! While it was previously revealed that the final Gintama film would be coming to the west, we didn’t know when. However, now we have a confirmed date: Gintama THE VERY FINAL will arrive in North America on November 21st and 22nd!  Tickets will be purchasable via Fathom Events at a later date.

Ever thought that we needed an anime about D.I.Y? Well, we’re finally getting one with a new series called Do It Yourself!! Set in Sanjo City in the Niigata Prefecture, we follow a girl named Takumi who finds herself joining her school’s D.I.Y club. We don’t know much about the series or when it releases, but the anime production is being handled by PINE JAM with Kazuhiro Yoneda directing.

Upcoming Releases:

The long-awaited sequel to Square-Enix’s Nintendo DS classic, The World Ends with You, arrives this week! NEO: The World End with You stars Rindo Kanade, who finds himself in the infamous Reapers Game in the heart of Shibuya. This action RPG evolves the psychic pin mechanics from the original title and aims to deepen the world established all those years ago.

NEO: The World Ends with You arrives for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 27th, with a PC release planned for later this year.

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s latest entry in the Warriors series is on the horizon! Samurai Warriors 5 aims to bring a fresh re-imagining to the series with a stylish cel-shaded art style and new mechanics!

While it was region locked to Japan for six years, the time has finally come for these entries in this legendary series to be released worldwide! The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures combines the two 3DS titles into one package with a full localization, including translations and voice acting.

No one would have imagined that this series would last this long, but Inti Creates and Sun Soft’s re-imagined version of Blaster Master is now releasing its third and final entry! Blaster Master Zero 3 brings back the tried-and-tested mechanics from the previous titles, while also introducing new dimensional ruptures to tackle on the planet Sophia.

Blaster Master Zero 3 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 29th.
