TAISHO x ALICE: HEADS & TAILS, the fandisc for TAISHO x ALICE ALL IN ONE, has been announced as a Nintendo Switch release, complete with Japanese/English Text Toggle Mode. It will launch on the 21st of September, 2023.

While this otome visual novel can be played as a standalone title, it recommends that you play TAISHO x ALICE episode 1,2,3 and epilogue first. It contains seven afterstories with the original love interests and more including a school AU story.

Unfortunately, the NA and EU Nintendo Switch release of “The Fox Awaits Me HANA” has been cancelled. COSEN haven’t given a detailed statement on why, but when responding to the question of whether it was a rating issue, they indicated that the company did not know why it wasn’t able to be published.

It was quite a packed week for video game announcements, as Nintendo and Sony both held live-stream presentations for their latest games! We’ll start with Nintendo, as they hosted their stream first:

The presentation started with an update on the next expansion for the ink-splashing multiplayer game, Splatoon 3! As part of the Expansions Pass, a new single-player experience is being added to the game, titled Side Order. This experience has you going up floors while strengthening your character how you see fit. Think of it like a squid-based version of a roguelike, if you will.

Want a Mario platformer that takes the character back to his roots? This next title is sure to scratch that itch, as the Gameboy Advance classic, Mario vs. Donkey Kong is getting a full remake! Explore 2D environments and discover how to get keys to doors in this charming puzzle platformer that gives Mario similar platforming controls to his 3D adventures.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong arrives exclusively for Nintendo Switch on February 16th, 2024.

Based on the hit anime that’s receiving a second season and movie later this year, Spy X Family is finally getting a console game, but not in the way you might expect! You take on the role of Anya Forger with the task of creating a photo album for school. Travel to various locations to fill out your album and take part in a variety of mini-games with other memorable characters from the original anime series.

Spy X Anya: Operation Memories releases for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2024.

The remake of Super Mario RPG also got more updates, showcasing the game’s various Triple Attacks and a new feature that allows you to re-fight more powerful versions of the game’s bosses, adding to the game’s post-game content.

If you do, you’ll be happy to hear we’ve finally gotten more details about it! Princess Peach: Showtime has you playing as Nintendo’s most famous princess as she’s stuck inside the Sparkle Theater thanks to the wicked Grape and their Sour Bunch. Take part in wildly different experiences; all centered around it being like a stage play. Get ready to stand up and make whacky poses in the next entry in the Wario Ware series! Wario Ware: Move It has you visiting a tropical island with Wario and friends in over 200 microgames that’ll have you making some of the craziest poses you can imagine with the Joy-Cons.

To wrap up the Direct, Nintendo had quite the bombshell: they’re releasing a full remake of the Gamecube classic, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! This turn-based RPG was the second game in the Paper Mario series and is still highly beloved to this day. This new version boasts updated graphics, but with the same charming writing and combat system fans grew to love almost 20 years ago.

As stated earlier, it wasn’t just Nintendo that had a digital showcase of their next big titles. Sony hosted their own PlayStation State of Play on the same day. Here are the highlights:

Resident Evil 4‘s remake is continuing to get content, even months after it was originally released! First up is a VR mode that lets you play the whole game on the PSVR 2, differing from the reimagined standalone VR release on the Meta Quest 2. It’s set to release this Winter. But before that, Ada’s side of the campaign is being expanded upon with the Separate Ways expansion, allowing you to play a part of the campaign from a completely different perspective.

We’re just over a month away from Insomiac’s sequel to the hit superhero game, Marvel’s Spider-Man! We got a ton more updates on what we can expect to see in the sequel at the presentation, including the size of the map, some of the side quests to tackle, and a variety of costumes you can have each Spider-Man wear.

Despite the game being two years old, Tales of Arise is getting a story expansion later this year! Titled Beyond the Dawn, this chapter will take place after the events of the base game and introduces a brand new character named Nazamil.

To close out the State of Play, they saved the best for last, as we got more updates for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth! We got a deeper look into the game’s combat, the characters and locations you’ll be seeing throughout the game, as well as a plethora of mini-games, including a new version of Chocobo Racing.

A new game in the Demon Slayer franchise is on the way, but it’s not what you might expect. Demon Slayer Sweep the Board is a party game inspired by Mario Party and sees you playing with up to four people across a game board and playing a variety of mini-games.

Demon Slayer Sweep the Board will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch in 2024.

Anime News:

The One Piece live-action adaptation has been doing exceptionally well since its premiere in August. Only two weeks after it was released, Neflix posted a video update hosted by Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece to confirm that a second season has been confirmed! Oda decided to tease the appearance of the Straw Hat Pirates’ doctor, Tony Tony Chopper with a sketch at the end of the announcement.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this legendary series, Fist of the North Star is getting a brand new anime adaptation! However, outside of a teaser visual, no details about the staff or a release window were announced at this time.

After the announcement last month, we finally have a trailer for After-school Hanako-kun! We also got an announcement for when the series will premiere.

After-school Hanako-kun! is set to premiere on October 10th via Crunchyroll.

If you’re still waiting for FromSoftware to release a sequel to Bloodborne, this new release might pique your interest! Lies of P is a soulslike that reimagines the classic story Pinocchio with a dark gothic art style, a weapon customization system, and the ability to tell the truth or lie at various junctions in the story.

Lies of P releases for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on September 19th.

Prepare to take a trip to Outworld as the latest entry in the Mortal Kombat series launches this week! Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the series, which includes the iconic fighting system and fatality mechanic, but also includes a Kameo system that lets you have an assist character help you in battle.

Mortal Kombat releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 19th.
