Visual Novel News:
Shiravune has announced that Dawn of Kagura: Maika’s Story – The Dragon’s Wrath (Kagura Reimeiki ~Maika no Shou~ Ni) by Debonosu Works will be launching on September 30th, 2022 at 10AM JST. In this title, you play as a shrine maiden defeating yokai.
This was included in Shiravune’s list of upcoming visual novel announcements in July and is consider a visual novel enough to have a VNDB page, but is considered a roguelike RPG.
Watamari – A Match Made in Heaven Part1 has now released on Steam. This yuri visual novel follows Hikari, a female spy who joins an all girls school as a student to discover its secret and ends up jumping one year back into the past.
This was included in Sekai Project’s list of upcoming visual novel announcements in July.
Caffeine: Victoria’s Legacy, a steampunk Victorian themed visual novel will be launching on PlayStation 4|5 and Nintendo Switch from Ratalaika Games on the 30th September, 2022 according to a press release. The PC version is already available on Steam.

In quite the surprising twist, the stars of hololive are coming to a popular video game, but it’s not one you might have expected! Among Us is hosting a collaboration with the company to bring some of the cosmetics from their most iconic characters that you can put on your character. Items include costumes from characters like Gawr Gura, Watson Amelia, Houshou Marine, Inugami Korone, and many more. Be quick though, as they’ll only be available for purchase until December 20th for 110 of the game’s premium currency.
Between a successful sequel on the big screen, a collection of some of his best games, and an upcoming open-world title releasing this November, 2022 has been a very good year for Sonic the Hedgehog! He can add one more project to the list, as Netflix are beginning to get promotion underway for Sonic’s next animated series: Sonic Prime. While we’ve had short teasers and announcements for the voice cast, we now have a full teaser and a release window for Winter 2022.

Anime News:
We’ve had to wait a little bit, but we finally have a glimpse at what the NieR Automata anime adaptation will look like in motion! Now titled NieR Automata Ver. 1.1a, we got two new teasers focused on the two key characters from the original game: 2B and 9S. In an interview during the teaser premiere, original game creator Yoko Taro stated that this won’t be a 1-to-1 adaptation of the game as it wouldn’t work for the new medium.

It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai aired, but after all this time, a sequel season has been announced! This new season will be adapting two light novels for the next two arcs of the anime: Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid. The same staff from Cloverworks will be returning to animate the series, with Soichi Masui returning to direct the new season.
No release window for Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai season two is known at this time.

A popular Shonen Jump manga is getting the anime treatment next year! Mashle: Magic and Muscles just received a new teaser trailer showing the main character, Mash Burnedead, while also announcing a release window of 2023. Directing the series is Tomoya Tanaka, who was an assistant director in the recent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series, with A-1 Pictures producing the adaptation.

Upcoming Releases:
After being stuck in Japan for over a decade, one of the most highly requested games in the Trails series is finally getting localized and released this week! Taking place after the events in Trails of the Sky the 3rd, Trails from Zero sees you take on the role of Lloyd Bannings; a rookie police detective. This game has been very well received during its time in Japan, so any JRPG fans should definitely consider keeping a look out for this installment.

With it being stuck on portable systems for over a decade, it seemed doubtful we’d get another console installment in Square-Enix’s Valkyrie Profile series, but that day has finally come! Valkyrie Elysium is an action RPG with a fast-paced combat system, while also incorporating mechanics from the prior entries. All of this is set in a beautiful world you’ll be exploring before the events of Ragnarok.
Valkyrie Elysium releases for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on September 29th, with a PC version releasing on November 11th.
