Nook News – 3/9/26 | New Xbox Console Announced

Microsoft have announced the next step in their Xbox console line-up. Not much is known about the new platform, with it simply being referred to as Project Helix in a short teaser video announcing the project.

Capcom shared more details on their upcoming new IP, Pragmata. Along with revealing new locations, the game will include a Shelter feature where you can take a break from the action and change the cosmetics of your characters with new outfits. What’s more, they’ve announced that the game will be releasing a week ahead of schedule.

Pragmata launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on April 17th.

We’ve received details on how the online play will work in the upcoming legacy collection for Mega Man Star Force. You’ll be able to play online on any of the three available games while also allowing you to search for matches for all three games at once to reduce wait times. Along with ranked and casual matches and trading features, the Brother mechanic from the original titles has been expanded to allow you to add 100 of them per game.

On the topic of Mega Man, we got an update for the next game in the franchise: Mega Man: Dual Override. After over 10,000 entries in their Robot Master design contest, six finalists have been chosen and the winner that will appear in the game will be announced at a later date. A teaser for all the other Robot Masters coming to the game was also shown

We got an overview trailer for the latest entry in the Onimusha franchise. Onimusha: Way of the Sword follows the perspective of Miyamoto Musashi in Kyoto during the Edo period of Japanese history. After being struck down by monsters known as the Genma, Musashi is granted a strange piece of armor called the Oni Gauntlet and is revived from his untimely fate. The game utilises an Issen feature to deal devastating damage to enemies and a parry system to turn the tide of battle. The Oni Gauntlet can also be used to absorb souls to regain lost health or to use for powerful abilities.

Bandai Namco teased a new RPG being announced and it turns out it was a new game in the Sword Art Online franchise. Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online does things very differently to past games, as you’ll now be creating your own character away from the exploits of Kirito during the events of the original anime. You’ll be able to wield a variety of weapons and pick a support character as you explore open fields taking out monsters and completing quests.

Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on July 10th.

The spiritual successor to Patapon has been confirmed for a full release. Ratatan, which launched on PC through Early Access, has you build armies of beings called Cobuns in this roguelite all about rhythm and controlling your forces. Press buttons in time with the music to perform various actions like attacking, launching projectiles, or defending. You’ll even have access to cards that change up the way you play.

Ratatan releases for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 16th.

Anime News:

Based on the classic PlayStation franchise, Suikoden is being adapted into an anime series, with production being handled by studio Konami animation. The series specifically adapts the story of Suikoden II which is about two young boys swept up in a grand war across Dunan. The series got a new trailer and a release window for when we can expect to see it.

Suikoden: The Anime premieres this October.

Upcoming Releases:

A remake of a PlayStation 2 horror classic is launching this week. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is the second attempt to remake the original game, with this new release being completely remade from the ground up, all while retaining the camera mechanic to stop ghosts in their tracks. If you’d like to try the game ahead of release, a demo for the game is now available.

The third entry in the spin-off series set in the Monster Hunter universe is ready to release this week. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection tells the story of Azurai: the sole Rathalos Rider in the entire kingdom. After strange occurrences that could threaten the stability of the world start appearing, he sets off on a journey along with a princess named Eleanor in the hopes of thwarting this crisis.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on March 13th.
