Visual Novel News:
Sekai Project made a number of announcements and updates at AnimeFest.
In new release news, they have announced that they will be releasing Miko no Kanata: Zero. This is a prequel to Miko no Kanata: Curious Tales from Oguni Shrine ~Cycles~. The translation is complete and it is currently in the programming work phase of the project.
They have also published Steam pages for Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka and A Maiden’s Serenade by feng. Neither has dates listed, but there is a 2024 release window for Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka.
Following a brief delay from it’s initial 6th June release date, Frontwing released Lilja and Natsuka: Painting Lies on the 25th July. This is a girls-love mystery story where a blind painter and her energetic assistant unravel the mysteries behind their clients’ requests. The scenario was written by Asou Ei (euphoria, Makoto route in Sakura no Uta -Sakura no Mori no Ue o Mau-) and it features main characters voiced by Yurie Igoma (Ruby Hoshino from Oshi no Ko) and Tomoyo Takayanagi (Mikan from The Demon Girl Next Door.)

There’s a rumor spreading quietly across the internet: “An anonymous painter will paint anything you request.” They do not want money or fame. Capricious and eccentric, the painter only accepts requests that pique their interest. Those lucky enough to meet this mysterious criteria will be chosen to meet with Lilja—a beautiful girl with long, fairy-like silver hair and eyes that shine like gemstones. Even though she is blind and wheelchair-bound, this does not hinder her genius. “From this day forward, I’m going to become your new eyes and legs!” Natsuka is her energetic live-in assistant. She acts as Lilja’s eyes and legs, using her instinct and intuition to find the inspiration and information beyond what’s necessary that Lilja seeks. “I don’t know for sure, but I can feel it!”
Frontwing have also announced the upcoming release of another title. OPPAI Succubus Academy: Sucky and Busty, Demonic and Lusty! will be released on August 1st, 2024. A free mosaic-removal DLC will also be available upon the game’s release.
OPPAI Succubus Academy is a VISUAL NOVEL set in Faren’ch Deshka Girls’ Academy. Its students may excel in bust size, but their ero ranking has the academy on the verge of closure. It’s up to Suguru and his Book of Sexy Magic to get all the succubi, teach them his ero ways, and save the day!
While Katawa Shoujo has been available in a variety of forms before, this well-known visual novel from Four Leaf Studios will be coming to Steam and Itch on August 16th, 2024. The Itch version will be the original game, while the Steam version will have adult content removed. A patch will be available to restore this.
Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character.

Gaming News:
Announced back at Anime Expo, we’ve gotten a more in-depth look at how the new game in the Bleach franchise will play! Bleach: Rebirth of Souls got a gameplay overview trailer and it showcases that the game doesn’t have a traditional health bar system. As you perform attacks, you slowly wear down your opponent’s defenses and can break through them completely to permanently damage them.
Bleach: Rebirth of Souls launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and PC. No release date has been announced at this time.

The live-action adaptation of Like a Dragon: Yakuza received a short teaser trailer! The trailer gives us a brief glimpse of what we can expect across the six-episode series, along with confirming that Kento Kaku will play the character of Akira Nishikiyama.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza‘s live-action series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 24th.

Anime News:
We’ve been waiting for this series for quite a few years, but at long last, we finally have a premiere date for the anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki! We received a brand new trailer for the series, which also confirmed when the series will premiere on Adult Swim.
Uzumaki premieres on September 28th.
Fans have waited quite a long time for a proper continuation of this anime adaptation, but we finally got our first look at it! Toilet-bound Hanako-kun got a short teaser trailer for its second season, with the end of the trailer revealing when we can expect to see this continuation release.
Toilet-bound Hanako-kun season 2 is set to premiere in January 2025.
