Before we get into the Tokyo Game Show 2025 Rundown, a quick catch up on the visual novel news that released over the same week.
Visual Novel News:
Shiravune have announced the upcoming release of Cosplaying in Costalia: The Tororo Sisters! (Role player: Tororo Shimai no Nenmaku Portrait – Gurigucha LIVE!) by AKABEi SOFT2. A short nukige visual novel centered around cosplay.
One day, I lost something very dear to me. A collection of cherished portraits, photographed at various cosplay conventions―in an unfortunate accident, the digital camera with all that data goes kaput. Kagura Games have revealed that they will be releasing Everybody Wants My Girl (Dare mo ga Kanojo o Neratteru) on October 4th, 2025.

MangaGamer have updated us that SLEEPLESS – A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Empress will be released in English on October 30th, 2025.
This new tale from the delightfully twisted mind of Sei Shojo, the creator of Bible Black, is set in the Black Rose Manor, where Mamiya Marie, the CEO of a powerful conglomerate, lives with her youngest daughter, Maria, and a stoic maid, Aira. When Takamiya Ryohei arrives to be Maria’s new tutor, he has no idea what kind of tantalizing web he’s just fallen into. As the women lure him into debauchery, all his lesson plans soon come unraveled. Yet all is not as it seems in the manor. Surely there must be some reason other than her daughter that keeps such a powerful and important CEO here within its halls. There’s also the mystery of why the room next door is strictly forbidden. Later, in Nocturne, a young couple facing roadside trouble find themselves at the mercy of Black Rose Manor’s hospitality. While they wait for repairs in this lap of luxury, the two find themselves beset upon by the alluring women of the manor, each one tempted to stray from the other and explore the tantalizing experiences the manor has to offer them.

Following a delay, Yomegami: My Sweet Goddess from ALcot is now releasing on Steam on October 7th, 2025.
This fantasy adventure tells a love story about a demon reincarnation with a goddess mother, a mob boss’s daughter, a clumsy class president, and a naive dog-eared girl in their daily lives and is from the same developers of Clover Days, Onigokko!, and My Girlfriend is the President. Gaming News:
The annual Tokyo Game Show recently took place, and it came with a huge amount of new updates! Sony started the ball rolling with a PlayStation State of Play that included both updates for upcoming games, along with some announcements. Let’s get into it:
The State of Play started with our first look at gameplay from Hosemarque’s new game: Saros! The game is set on the shape-shifting planet of Carcosa as you take on the role of Arjun Devraj. This third-person shooter brings with it similar roguelike gameplay from the studio’s last game, Returnal. The new addition is the ability to absorb certain bullets from enemies and use that energy to give yourself an advantage in combat.
Saros launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on March 20th, 2026.

A remaster of one of the most influential video games is arriving next year! Deus Ex Remastered brings back the original game with enhanced visuals and lighting, as well as quality of life additions like autosaves and faster load times.

We finally have a release date for a new game set in the Seven Deadly Sins universe! The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is an open world action RPG similar to the likes of Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. This new story sees you playing as Prince Tristan on a quest to restore order across Britannia. Explore this huge open world that allows you to find treasure, fish, cook, as well as engage in combat with many familiar faces from the original series.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is coming to PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android on January 28th, 2026.

With the full game recently launching, we got news of the final piece of DLC coming to Sonic Racing CrossWorlds‘ season pass! Another iconic platformer franchise with a blue protagonist is joining the roster, as both Mega Man and Proto Man are coming as playable racers. This pack will also include a race track themed around Dr. Wily’s castle.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Koei Tecmo’s net entry in the Nioh series got an update, along with the full release date! Nioh 3 is set during the Sengoku period as you play as a potential new Shogun named Tokugawa Takechiyo and with a spirit guardian called Kusanagi. Travel across time to stop Takechiyo’s brother from sending Japan into a dark hellscape overrun with yokai.

But that wasn’t all, as Koei Tecmo also announced a remaster of one of their classic games! Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered remakes the original game that was released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2001. This was the game that set the groundwork that other entries in the franchise followed, with this new release including new stories for certain characters, new weapons, and even some challenge modes.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC on March 19th, 2026.

After its initial announcement earlier this year, we’ve been given more details on Bandai Namco’s next instalment in their anime-styled soulslike! Code Vein II has you playing as a Revenant Hunter travelling to the past to stop an anomaly that has caused Revenants to transform into new monsters called Horrors. Utilize blood to unleash unique skills to take down hordes of foes, along with a skill customization system; all tied together with action combat fans of soulslikes are already accustomed to.

Remember LET IT DIE back in 2016? If so, you’ll be happy to know the franchise is getting a new game just before its 10th anniversary! LET IT DIE: INFERNO is a roguelite survival game that sees you traverse a massive hole in the earth known as Hell Gate. Collect items and weapons within Hell Gate to make progress, but if you die, you lose that character you sent in, requiring you to make a new one to have another attempt.

Next up is a new 2D platformer with a striking art style! Developed by DeskWorks and published by Shueisha Games, Chronoscript: The Endless End has you play as a character called The Editor stuck within the tomes of a story that has no observable end. Each area is formed by multiple pages of a manuscript as you run, jump, and slash through these dark pages formed from paper and ink.

To close out the State of Play, we got a long-awaited update on a new superhero game from Insomniac Games! Marvel’s Wolverine was announced back in 2021 alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but we finally got our first proper look at one of Marvel’s most famous members of the X-Men. The titular character is being played by Liam McIntyre in this brutal and bloody action game that has Logan travel all across the world and encountering other famous characters like Omega Red, Mystique, and even a Sentinel robot.

That wasn’t all though, as Microsoft hosted a Tokyo Game Show broadcast with a bunch of announcements. The first was an updated version of a game from a classic action franchise: Gungrave! Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat originally released back in 2022, with this new version using the power of Unreal Engine 5 and boasts enhanced graphics and cutscenes. Other additions include new characters, improved enemy AI, new and improved animations, and more.

A new life sim game with an adorable art style was shown at Microsoft’s TGS event! Starsand Island sees you returning to an island that you spent your childhood in to get away from the busy lifestyle of the city. All the things fans of life sims have come to expect are here: farming, fishing, exploration, outfit customisation, and much more. If you’d like to try the game ahead of its full release, a demo will be available for PC on October 8th.

We’re now less than a month away before the grand return of Ninja Gaiden! During the Microsoft event, we got a first-hand look at how Ninja Gaiden 4‘s difficulty will be balanced, including a gameplay showcase of the game at its highest difficulty setting.

Wrapping up the Microsoft showcase was the reveal of the next mainline entry in one of the most famous racing game franchises! In a short cinematic teaser trailer, Forza Horizon 6 was announced, revealing that this new game will be set in Japan.
Forza Horizon 6 launches for Xbox Series X and PC in 2026. A PlayStation 5 version will also be coming after the initial launch date.

But what about other announcements from the Tokyo Game show? There were quite a few, so let’s break them down:
Capcom’s PRAGMATA got a new trailer that highlights a new feature in the game! The Shelter system acts as your main hub in-between battles. While resting there, you can create new weapons or upgrade existing ones that will aid you in hacking the numerous enemies you’ll face on this space station.
PRAGMATA is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2026.

The second character in the new season pass for Street Fighter 6 received a trailer going over how they’ll play! Debuting in Street Fighter 4, C. Viper is back with a new design while still retaining the gadget-based moveset she’s well known for.

A new free-to-play open world game from Naked Rain and NetEase Games has recently taken the gaming world by storm! In ANANTA, you play as a captain of a task force comprised of many professionals as you aim to maintain peace in a massive metropolis. The game has tons of gameplay systems, such as a swinging traversal system, car driving mechanics, a hand-to-hand combat system, and even the option to switch characters via an in-game mobile phone.
ANANTA is coming to PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android. No release window was announced at this time.

Kojima Productions recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and it came with a bunch of announcements! The first was a new look at a horror game initially teased during The Game Awards titled OD. In this brief teaser trailer, the game looks to be set in first-person as one of the characters lights up a bunch of candles as things start to get more and more eerie. The trailer also revealed some of the cast members who’ll be featured in the game, such as Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer.
Currently, no release window or platforms for OD are known at this time.

A new Death Stranding movie was announced! Going under the working title of Death Stranding Mosquito, this is an animated film set in the Death Stranding universe, but will be focusing on a new character. Hideo Kojima will be producing the film, with Hiroshi Miyamoto directing and Aaron Guzikowski writing.

The final announcement from Kojima Productions is a brand-new game! Described as a action espionage game, Physint received its first piece of key art, along with announcement some of the members of the cast, such as Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe.
No release date or platforms for Physint were announced at this time.

A new version of a classic game in the Yakuza franchise was recently announced! Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is an enhanced remake of the PlayStation 3 original that continues the story of Kazuma Kiryu. Alongside this, a separate game titled Dark Ties is also included where you follow the perspective of Yoshitaka Mine during the events of Yakuza 3.

We got a new look at Professor Layton‘s return, along with an update on the game’s release date. Professor Layton and the New World of Steam received a new trailer, but it also revealed the the game has been delayed into 2026, with a statement from LEVEL-5 saying, “We deeply regret any inconvenience this delay may cause and greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support.”

Anime News:
The highly anticipated next animated part of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure got an update last week! This seventh part is titled Steel Ball Run and covers a race across America in the late 19th century. A new trailer for the anime adaptation was showcased, revealing the designs of the protagonists and the actors who’ll be portraying them.

The second season of a popular fantasy anime has revealed its full premiere date! Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End‘s second season is set to premiere on January 16th, 2026, with the announcement being released alongside a new piece of key art.

At the end of its fourth season, we have confirmation that the tale of the Shield Hero isn’t over just yet! The Rising of the Shield Hero is getting a fifth season, with the announcement being made via a short teaser after the fourth season’s final episode.

A new version of a classic strategy RPG releases this week! Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is an remade version of the PlayStation classic with new visuals and voice acting, along with the inclusion of an easier difficulty option.

The sequel to Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima is finally ready for release this week! Ghost of Yotei tells the tale of revenge as you take on the role of Atsu as she travels across Enzo to hunt down a group of renegade samurai who killed her family. Take on the antagonists in any order you wish as you explore this beautiful recreation of Japan in the early 17th century.

Two classic Nintendo Wii games are being re-released in celebration of Super Mario‘s 40th anniversary! Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 combines these two timeless games into one package, along with adding new story content in the form of in-game storybook pages.

Eight years after the last instalment, the Digimon Story RPG series is returning! Digimon Story: Time Stranger is all about discovering a way to prevent a massive explosion that destroyed Tokyo by travelling eight years into the past. This new addition brings back the Digimon combat mechanics from the prior entries, but you’ll now be able to travel to the Digital World alongside the real world.
