Interested in some Japan-limited goodies? Enjoy the random nature of lucky bags or boxes? The Sugoi Mart Anime Set is worth checking out.
This is a random set of anime loot, but it will consist of the following:
- 1x Anime Figure
- 1x Japanese Manga
- 1x Blind Box
- 1x Snack*
- 1x Gachapon
With that said, there’s a little exception to what I’ll be showing you through this article. Due to regional issues, they substituted the snack for me.
Each bag costs $40 USD (or $34USD with coupon code NOOKGAMING15) and contains items from a selection of anime franchises. Sugoi Mart sent us an Anime Set to check out. What’s inside and how is the value? Read on for more on this.
Surprise Set
It’s worth noting here at the start that unlike some other lucky bags/boxes, the Sugoi Mart Anime Set actually comes from Japan and contains official items. It’s also not a subscription service like many similar items.
Much like their Gachapon Lucky Bag, the Anime Set arrived in a black drawstring bag. This was protected by a box, so there are no concerns there.
Anime Figure
The most obvious item was the figure – its box took up most of the space in the bag.
This was a particularly nice surprise and a great first impression. It’s of Uraraka Ochaco (Uravity) from My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) and from the Break Time Collection (Vol. 4) by Banpresto/Bandai Spirits. It’s approximately 9.5cm tall and 13cm wide. It’s a single piece, with no accessories or assembly required.
🚀Anyone watching the new season of #MyHeroAcademia?
🪐We just got this new Uravity figure to check out for a post on @NookSite👀

Looking it up online, this figure was only released a month prior to being sent out. While it appears to be much cheaper in Japan, some figure websites that sell worldwide list the figure at almost the same cost as the entire Sugoi Mart Anime Set. It’s quite topical too, with My Hero Academia recently launching a new season.
It has a nice amount of detail, with even little touches like the pads on her fingertips that she uses to activate her powers actually being pads and not just painted on.
Japanese Manga
As noted, the Sugoi Mart Anime Set contains a Japanese Manga. As such, this might not be readable by everyone!
Diving further into the bag, I found a sealed copy of volume one of Gachiakuta, which is a fairly recent shounen manga by Kei Urana. Volume one only came out five months ago. Apparently, it was the most popular choice by English voters in the 2022 Next Manga Award, despite not having been released in English yet. It seems like it’ll be a popular choice.
Sadly, I can’t read enough Japanese to follow along, but I can certainly appreciate the artwork. If nothing else, it got me to look into it and become interested in an eventual English release.
Blind Box
The randomly chosen Blind Box that arrived was the Akira Blind Box Part 2, which is also available on the Sugoi Mart website. It can contain one of four figures. If you’re not familiar with blind boxes, they’re boxes that contain a random figure from a set. These were always a popular item in my local ‘niche interest’ shop when I was growing up.
For those of you who haven’t come across it, Akira is a 1988 Japanese animated post-apocalyptic cyberpunk film. While quite old now, it’s often cited as one of the most influential anime ever. There’s even been talk about a live-action version by Warner Bros.
Inside was this one particularly gruesome figure, created by Kaiyodo. You can clearly see the pain on his face and the deformed organs coming off his body. There’s a reason why Akira is suggested for adults only.
‘Snack’
As mentioned, usually the Sugoi Mart Anime Set includes a snack. As they couldn’t send one due to my region, they instead substituted by including a notebook with lined paper. Can’t eat it, but it’s always useful to have!
I believe these are usually snacks with an anime theme. There are some examples on the webpage.
Gachapon
The final item is a Gachapon. I opened it to find a phone charm of Klee from Genshin Impact. It appears to be from Volume 2 of a set, with nine possible charms to find.
I’m not too familiar with Genshin Impact, but it’s certainly a nice design and a very popular series. I’ve called it a phone charm since it included the string, but it could be used just as well to add onto a keyring. I certainly like the look of it, despite not playing the game.
If you’re mostly interested in Gachapon, you can check out our look at the Gachapon Lucky Bag which includes ten of them in a set.
Final Thoughts
I’m quite happy with this anime set. It started off strong with a figure from a series I enjoy, that I likely would have had to pay quite a lot for and followed up with items from some more well-chosen series. While I can’t read the manga, I enjoyed looking through it and I was happy to have a reason to revisit my memories of Akira in particular.
Of course, if you decide to give the Sugoi Mart Anime Set a try, you’ll get something different. Make sure to tag @NookSite on Twitter to let us know what ends up in your bag.
