As I mentioned in my review, Gal*Gun 2 is a great game and in my opinion, Gal*Gun 2 – Doki Doki VR Mode is one of the best ways to play it. Sadly, it was designed to work with the HTC Vive (released in 2016) which uses very different controls from modern VR headsets.
Before, if you wanted to play with Oculus / Meta Touch controllers, you had to deal with weird controls like tilting the analog stick and pressing to select options on the menu. If not, you might try to get one of the user-created custom controller bindings to work, and I know I’m not the only one who tried a lot of them and still couldn’t get it to work.
Luckily, it now works with the Oculus / Meta Touch controllers by default! It’s still not the most intuitive, so here’s a quick guide on the Gal*Gun 2 – Doki Doki VR Mode controllers when using the Oculus / Meta headsets. In my case, I’m using the Meta Quest 2 but the layout should remain the same on other Oculus/Meta controllers.
Initial Setup
You shouldn’t need to do anything special here. Just start the Meta Quest Link software on the PC, then go into the headset, start Quest Link (Settings / System / Quest Link / Launch Quest Link), and connect whether via Air Link (wireless) or the Link cable. Then open up the game in VR mode via Steam.
It should be set to the ‘Oculus Touch Legacy Bindings’ by default, but if you’ve been changing controller bindings to try and get Gal*Gun 2 – Doki Doki VR Mode to work, you may need to reset it.
